Born in Brooklyn and raised between Brooklyn and Atlanta in the early 90s - 02', Cheech was destined to connect with music. He began experimenting with Hip-Hop as young as 10 years old, with the help of his father, who had a studio built in the back of a close friend's car shop. This early exposure to the microphone sparked the beginning of his fiery passion as an artist. And led to him honing in on his skills in as a self-engineering musician, in order to further develop as an artist.
Growing up with 2 West Indian parents from Grenada, Cheech was immersed in the vibrant sounds of Soca, Reggae, Dancehall, and Hip-Hop. Artists like Buju Banton, Mighty Sparrow, and Vybz Kartel played a pivotal role in shaping his early love for music. During his teenage years, the influence of artists such as Curren$y, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, and 50 Cent further inspired his evolution into the artist he is today. Along with a plethora of prevalent underground rappers shedding influence to the teenage mind of Mr. DeLaFronto, the combo of streets and the "Gettin to it" movement within NYC helped shape the sound you hear from Cheech today.
Over the years, he's collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including singers, songwriters, and musicians such as Jay Critch, JAMO (Jimi Tents), Imani Beau, Theo Ferragamo (OGG), Kirk Knight, and Mike G (OFWGKTA). For an artist like Cheech, collaboration is essential, and he remains open to working with creators of all styles and backgrounds.
